I really wanted to post yesterday, but had a hard time coming up with the correct words.
This has been a week of transition for me, and that fact was even more pronounced yesterday on the Anniversary of 9/11.
No one will ever forget where they were when the Trade Towers came tumbling to the ground. I was at our former home, getting my oldest daughter (aka the Gluten Free Kid) ready for her first week of Kindergarten. My Mom called (she lives in Texas, two hours ahead of Pacific time, so she gets the news of the day before me). She said "Jamie turn on your TV, something is happening to the World Trade Towers," and as I did that, the second plane crashed in. And so that moment will never be forgotten for me.
Yesterday, as I reflected on where I was seven years ago, I couldn't help but think about how much our lives have changed in the last seven years-
Seven years ago it was my oldest child off to Kindergarten and today it is my youngest - I am not sure what to make of this transition from the baby/toddle/preschool years, to the all of the kids in school years. My first day "alone" I was so giddy I almost made myself sick to my stomach. I have 12 years of projects I have been putting off and waiting until "I have more time."
We have moved into a new home, which in turn symbolizes the fact that we are planning on staying in the Northwest. My husband and I are Midwestern's at heart, but the Pacific Northwest is the home of my children.
And, of course, the biggest change of all, our adoption of the gluten free lifestyle. Not that many years ago, I had never heard the words "gluten" or "celiac." Now those words are everyday parts of our life.
The only thing you can count on in life, is that you cannot count on anything!
Searching for safe food is a large part of our new lifestyle, which brings me to the Gluten Free Product of the Day.
This is actually a service that is offered by Cecelia's Marketplace which publishes the Gluten-Free Grocery Shopping Guide 2008-2009our absolute favorite printed resource for Gluten Free Products.
